Mac Treat #23:

Did you know you can make your Mac turn on and off automatically, on a set schedule? This is useful if you’re like me, and you usually turn your Mac off at night, but always turn it on at the same time every morning – or if you want to be sure your Mac is turned on for an automatic backup every Friday afternoon.

It’s easy to put your Mac on a wake-up / shut down schedule. Click on the blue Apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen, and select “System Preferences.” Browse to the Energy Saver pane and select the “Schedule” button in the lower right hand corner of the Energy Saver pane. You can then set dates and times to make your Mac wake up and shut down.

Very easy! Test it to see how it works. Too bad it’s not that easy to get the kids to sleep – or wake them up in time for school! Note: I don’t really have kids.
