Tax Free day is coming up this Saturday and most of the staff is busy making preparations for what will likely be our busiest day of the year. Recently the Vermont legislature designated two Sales Tax Holidays: Saturday August 22nd and Saturday March 6, 2010. We have been preparing additional check-out stations, pick-up stations, as well as bringing in a lot of extra inventory.
We will be keeping the South Burlington Store open from 8 AM until 10 PM but I’m not letting them close the doors until all the customers have been served. We will also have extended hours at our Waitsfield location. In addition, we will be taking phone orders right through midnight.
The will be crowds, there will be the press with cameras and a lot of Small Dog employees. We call this an “all-hands” event and I expect that just about every employee will be there to help. The most efficient and stressless way to buy your Mac or iPod here in Vermont on Tax Free Day is to place your order ahead of time for pick-up or shipment. We will charge your card on Saturday to qualify for the tax break and you can then come in and pick up the products on Saturday or later in the week. You must be invoiced and pay on Saturday but we have been taking a lot of pre-orders. So many , in fact, that we had to rent a big U-Haul truck to bring pre-orders up to S. Burlington! If you want to pre-order you must have your order in by the end of the day on Friday August 21! As they say – operators are standing by!
Hey, here’s a shout-out to one of my co-authors and friends, Ed Shepard, who is celebrating his birthday today. Happy Birthday Ed!
If you are here in Vermont come on in for our Tax Free celebration and introduce yourself. My job that day is mostly to greet customers. And remember, you have until the end of the day on Friday to place your pre-order!
